TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) recently urged India’s major telecom operators such as Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea (VI) to present only the recharge plans with voice and SMS. The objective of this initiative was to provide affordable options to consumers who require only voice and SMS services, but are forced to buy data-packs expensive plans. After this suggestion, Jio, Airtel and VI introduced their new recharge packages. However, these plans are facing strong criticism of the public due to being more expensive than expected.
TRAI, after a dispute over the newly launched voice and SMS-only plans, said that it would review these plans within a week of launching under regulatory requirements. After TRAI’s intervention, the three major companies – Jio, Airtel and VI – made changes in their offers and introduced better voice and SMS plans with more beneficial features, which are available at affordable prices. Airtel’s new voice and SMS only plan
84 days plan
This prepaid plan of Airtel, which is available first Rs 499, is now available for just Rs 469, that is, customers will save Rs 30. In this plan, customers will get unlimited voice calling facility, so that they can call on any number in India without additional charge. Also, 900 SMS will be given for free.
365 days plan
This annual period prepaid plan of Airtel, which was earlier priced at Rs 1959, is now available for Rs 1,849, which will save customers a full Rs 110. The validity of this plan is up to 365 days, which gives the benefit of unlimited calling and national roaming. Apart from this, a total of 3600 SMS will be given free for the whole year.
Jio’s new voice and SMS only plan
84 days plan
Reliance Jio first launched a plan of Rs 458, which is now available for Rs 448. This plan gets a validity of 84 days, during which you can enjoy unlimited free calling on any network, whether it is local or long-destination. Apart from this, you also get 1000 free SMS, which you can send to any network.
365 days plan
Jio’s 365 -day recharge plan used to come earlier for Rs 1958, but now a new plan has been removed for Rs 1748. There is a validity of 336 days in this new plan, which is almost for a whole year. As it was in the earlier plan, unlimited free calls are also available in it and 3600 free SMS is available, which you can use for both local and long-destination messaging.
Vodafone-Idea (VI) new voice and SMS only plan
84 days plan
Vodafone Idea has introduced an affordable plan for Rs 470, which comes with a validity of 84 days, but there is no data in it. Users will get unlimited calling facility on any network in India, as well as the benefit of free national roaming. 900 free SMS are also being given in this plan, which match Airtel’s plans.
365 days plan
Along with the 84-day plan, Vodafone Idea has also launched a 365-day voice-only plan for Rs 1,849. In this plan, users get 3,600 free SMS, along with the benefit of unlimited calling on any network in India and the facility of free national roaming.
